i got this because i’m recovering from surgery and i wanted to use it in bed. i was concerned from other reviews it wouldn’t be sturdy enough because im not using it on a solid surface like a desk. however it has been great. holding up my phone or ipad has been such a chore. especially since while i was in the hospital they took a zillion labs and my arms are bruised and sore from being stuck so many times. it holds up my iphone 13 pro max and ipad gen 3 or 5 or 7 or whatever dang gen i have, haha well whichever. it’s big with a hefty case cause im clumsy and it holds it great. and yes i can push on it and it doesn’t fall over. change apps and things and it’s fine. my phone has a case too. not as hefty. it angles great so i don’t have to move my head too much. which means a lot to me since i had brain surgery. is it super sturdy on a bed? no. but it’s not meant to be used in this way so i get it. i place something with a little weight on the base like my weighted eye mask or wrap a bit of blanket around it and it’s just fine. but really does work great for my needs. better than i expected honestly. i just needed to be able to watch some shows while recovering from major surgery. and not have to hold anything or crane my neck too much. so i can only imagine it works even better for its actual purpose on a solid surface. which it does btw. i have also it used on the table while eating. also can’t beat the price! i got it on the deal for 7.99. if you’re on the fence. buy it now!

Just received it today and, after taking it out of the box, I felt it was flimsy and wouldn't do the job. But after assembling it, it became much more solid and capable. The base is heavily weighted for stability and the stem becomes more than adequate when screwed into the base with the screw and hex wrench that comes with the unit. I have a heavy Samsung Galaxy S23 phone and I have no problem. Remember to hold the stem down tight when you're fastening the screw and make sure the screw is tight. If the stem wobbles, you need to give the screw a few more turns.
