These work quite well for the money. Read the fine print on the range-- cities lower the range significantly.Even in my suburb it probably went more like half a mile. But they're fun!
I bought these because they are the only walkie talkies I could find that did not require rechargeable batteries. Not sure about long-range use, but they work great over 5 acres. Meaning...clear as a bell from one end of property to the other, with trees, a house, a bunkhouse, a barn, a garage, and vehicles (including a big horse) in between. Very pleased with my purchase and bought for my son-in-law, too! BTW, just want to point out that I believe all those expensive rechargeable walkie talkies would be pretty useless if the power grid went down for any length of time (EMP?). Once all your rechargeable batteries are dead, what would you plug the charger unit into? Just sayin'!
These were on the cheaper end of price ranges for "real" walkie talkies. they sound great and work at a decent distance. sometimes the talk button doesn't work at first press and you need to release the button and try again. otherwise great deal for the money.
